The new season is almost upon us and we hope preparations are going according to plan at all member clubs. The action kicks off on Saturday 19th April and, fingers crossed, the weather forecast looks favourable.
The 2014 Pre-Season newsletter was emailed to clubs and umpires at the weekend and its contents should be fully digested by all the appropriate parties at each club. Item 19 has been updated to include John Wallis's contact details. The newsletter is available under 'News'.
We have been informed by Trentside Cricket Club that they regretfully have had to withdraw their 4th XI from Division 10 South with immediate effect. This is obviously very disappointing and will mean that unfortunately each team will have two blank fixtures and will play only 20 games during the coming season. It is hoped that clubs will be able to arrange friendly fixtures to fill in these blanks if necessary.
We have been advised by the Derbyshire Cricket Board that clubs who have an overseas player must ensure that he holds a valid Safeguarding and Protecting Children Certificate. If not then he must attend an appropriate course prior to the end of May. To this end, the Cricket Board is running a course on 29th April 2014 at The Gateway Centre, County Ground, Derby. To book on the course please contact Mick Glenn by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone: 01332 388130.
The latest news can be found right here during the season with results added to the site as they come in, so the league tables will be updated immediately and Premier League scorecards will be available straight after each game. With several other clubs now using TCS, expect to see more and more games with full details on a Saturday night followed by reports on Sunday.
