Week 15
Derbyshire Premier & County Cricket Leagues
Weather

The action in the Beechwood Mazda sponsored Derbyshire Premier League returned in earnest and it is pretty much as you were with all three of the main protagonists registering comfortable victories. Leaders Ockbrook & Borrowash eased past Spondon while second-placed Sandiacre Town comfortably beat strugglers Lullington Park. Swarkestone crushed bottom of the table Alfreton to maintain the pressure on the top to ahead of next Saturday’s encounter with Ockbrook at Victoria Avenue. Ticknall moved back into the top four following victory at Chesterfield and Denby moved well clear of the relegation places with an easy win over Marehay. The only draw of the day was at A & B where visitors Dunstall claimed the major spoils.

Eckington are still well clear in Play Straight Cricket Division One despite being held by Cutthorpe but Quarndon closed the gap in second place with a comfortable win over mid-table Rolleston. Duffield easily beat Ilkeston Rutland to stay third and Elvaston moved closer in fourth by thrashing Clifton. Staveley Welfare claimed important points at Matlock with a first win of the campaign while bottom of the table Stainsby Hall also won for the first time, victory over fellow-strugglers Sawley & Long Eaton Park making their situation look a little less bleak. In Flint Bishop Division Two leaders Alrewas had their lead cut to 14pts after they were held to a draw Nutbrook while Ambergate were comfortably beating Rolls Royce Leisure. Aston kept in touch in third place with victory over Sandiacre Town. In Technical Turf Division Three leaders Walton were without a fixture but remain well in charge following a setback for Wirksworth & Middleton who picked up just 7pts from a draw with Morton Colliery. Walton’s lead in now only 13pts but they have a game in hand while Derby Congs moved a touch closer in third place after a win at Shipley Hall.
